Developing an Email Policy

Some statements to
consider:
- Our computers, Internet services, and email system are for the sole
purpose of facilitating business communications.
- Management and individuals tasked to monitor our systems have
access to email communications sent or received on our computers and
email system at all times.
- Any and all communications sent or received on our computers or
email systems are the property of the company.
- Privacy does not exist nor extend to such communications – whether
intended for business or personal purposes.
- All employees must provide management with any and all passwords and
encryption keys used in or for our systems, communication equipment and
data files.
- We prohibit using our computers and email systems for defamatory
messages or for commercial purpose not in the interest of the company.
- Violation of these policies by an employee or by anyone who does so
with the assistance of an employee may subject the employee to
disciplinary action, including discharge.
